Land Information Warfare Activity (LIWA)

Fort Belvoir, Virginia

Based upon their work in the designing of the state of the art computer presentat  ion facility in Rosslyn for DARPA in 1993, Cinematix Inc. was commissioned to design the operations center for Land Information Warfare Activity at the Inscom Headquarters Building at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.  Cinematix looked to the contractor who had performed under a difficult schedule with demanding design criteria at DARPA.

The Keystone Group provided extensive preconstruction services to insure that this complex, strategic facility would be completed to the demanding expectations of the end user.  Close interaction with the design team insured that all disciplines were well coordinated.  Procurement and tracking of the lead times for the many custom elements was a key factor in insuring the timely completion of the project.  The facility was constructed three floors below grade in a high security building.  Government escort personnel were required to escort all tradesmen.  The Keystone staff worked hand in hand with the Fr. Belvoir staff to coordinate the movement of materials and personnel throughout the project.  Close interaction with the facility staff insured that the extensive computer networking system was integrated into the construction schedule to allow the facility to come online as quickly as possible.
